About Rob Dixon

Rob Dixon is a nationally recognized saxophonist and has worked with a wide variety of artists, from Illinois Jacquet to Ali from "A Tribe Called Quest." In addition to working as a full-time performer, Mr. Dixon is one of the principal organizers, and also education director, for the Indy Jazz Fest. A graduate of Hampton University, he is also an alumnus of Indiana University. After completing the master’s program in Jazz Studies at IU, Mr. Dixon moved to New York City in 1996, establishing himself as a professional musician working with the Count Basie Band, Rufus Reid, The Ellington Band, composer Bill Lee (Spike Lee ’ s father), Illinois Jacquet, Jonah Jones, and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, as well as many others. He returned to Indianapolis in 2002 and started Triology (the first group to be signed by the Owl Studios record label). Recently, one of Mr. Dixon's original compositions ( Soul Talk ) was featured in the major motion picture Big Stan.

About the Organ-Nizers

The Organ-nizers are known for their smooth R&B, funk sounds presented in an improv jazzy way. The band is comprised of saxophonist Hank Hankerson , Guitarist Robert Coleman, B3 man Johnny Dial & Drummer Ralph Hankerson.

About the Curator:

Richard “Sleepy” Floyd

10 East Arts Music Series Curator  

Richard "Sleepy" Floyd is a drummer, composer, and producer known for his versatility and high level of musicianship. Currently residing in Indianapolis, his 24-year music playing career spans several genres including jazz, rock, hip-hop, and gospel, and Sleepy has performed, recorded, and shared the stage with various artists across several genres.  But ultimately, a love for hip-hop, jazz, and beat production led to co-founding The Native Sun live hip-hop collective.  Richard recently curated and produced the 2021 Indy Jazz Festival, a multi-day line-up of Indianapolis, regional, and national performing artists.
